I just saw something interesting. An OpenID provider that supports privacy.

And if your community can't afford the monthly fees anymore, if you disable their login, anyone using their login service loses access to their accounts, which basically locks you into paying them forever.
https://privacyportal.org/for-business/productsI am not sure this is a good strategy. A small community that depends on donations will be forced to pay $40 to $120 a month so their users can log in anonymously. That might be more than the community receives in donations.
This is one of the problems with projects like this. It costs money to operate, but it winds up being too expensive for communities to use.
