This looks very interesting. I will need to dive into this more.

I am working on a project management system that will eventually be federated. (The first version will support federated single sign on via OpenWebAuth.)

Integrating it with a git platform would be nice. I am leaving a note for myself here.

I am curious if example.org responding directly but point self/profile-page to the subdomain would work too?

I was just reading a post on the Hubzilla support forum about video thumbnails. This should probably be turned into an article.

If you're running your own hub, you should be able to change the thumbnail by setting the system.default_video_poster configuration.

You can do it from the terminal, like this:

$ ./util/config system default_video_poster url/to/my_poster.jpg

You can also set a specific poster to the videos you post, by adding it to the [video] tag like this:

[video poster='url/to/my_poster']video-link[/video]

(Yes, the url has to be in single quotes in this case. Not sure if that was a conscious decision or not.)

I was messing around with the PDL Editor in Hubzilla, trying to add some custom navigation that does not depend on themes.

The documentation at https://hubzilla.org/help/Widgets needs more information.

For example,

random_block - display a random block element from your webpage design tools collection. Permissions are honoured.

args:
contains - only return blocks which include the contains string in the block name
channel_id - if not your own

would need to look like:

[widget=random_block][var=contains]menu[/var][/widget]

If you want to show the block called menu.

This post is just a note to myself that this needs to be communicated in the documentation somehow.

if you have a menu created under /menu/channel-id and it is called " menu-name" do it like this:

[menu]menu-name[/menu]

When dealing with a platform, such as Hubzilla, that always has a theme active, it can be difficult to find code you can drop in that does not conflict with that theme's CSS.

I finally found an HTML and CSS Library that does not conflict with Bootstrap or Hubzilla themes.

Their code snippets use their own CSS & class names that are unique and don't conflict. It makes it easier to build stuff without debugging CSS conflicts or writing everything from scratch.

P.S. I don't make any money recommending this. This is just a library that I like and use.

I just put together a quick wiki entry on how to install Hubzilla. It also includes commands for installing Neuhub, once it is officially released.

For people who are installing Hubzilla on a cPanel server, you can copy & paste the commands without making any changes. The only exception is the cron job, which needs to have the correct path to your cPanel account.

I just created a new account on https://CodeJournal.dev for the purpose of sharing and documenting information, code, and resources that I find while working on various web development projects.

I decided to create a separate account since not all of my followers are developers, and they probably would get bored at all of the stuff I post over here. And, this also will serve as a personal web log for my own reference.

I will talk about Hubzilla, Neuhub, the fediverse, the social web, HTML, Bootstrap 5, PHPRunner, and various websites & apps that I am working on. If you are interested in that sort of stuff, then be sure to follow.
